How have you suddenly been invaded? Do you have to pay for exterminators to get rid, or is there some kind of government funding?
I live in Michigan and my room mate and I have had a bed bug problem for most of the time we’ve lived here. It’s gotten SO BAD lately that we almost can’t sleep! We send out maintenance requests often (not even just for the bed bugs – things like our door that’s been broken since we moved in, our heat that has ALSO been broken since we moved in, etc) but they ignore us and never come fix anything.
My question is, based on that info, can I make the owners of this building pay for a bed bug exterminator? Does everyone in the building need an exterminator?
Okay..so i live in nyc where bed bugs are becoming a huge epidemic.. they’re being found in stores, movie theatres, malls, etc..not just people’s homes anymore. i’ve become so terrified of getting them it’s starting to interfere with me enjoying the rest of my summer. I had a bed bug scare in july where we thought one of the kids from the camp i worked at had them..and then a few days later i found a small bug on my bed. we had an exterminator come to our house but i don’t have anything and the kid never had bed bugs to begin with.. however, this has not calmed my mind at all. today i went to the mall and i almost didn’t want to go because i have this blantant fear i’m going to get bed bugs from the dressing rooms. this is nuts. i’m legit going nuts.. i have this terrible fear of them and just like.. bugs in general. i’m almost actually relieved whenever i see a mosquito in the house because i know that it’s not a bed bug (since bed bugs do not fly).. they are a total ***** to get rid of and i don’t want me or my family to have to go through this. even the freaking empire state building, one of the most well known nyc landmarks has bed bugs.. wtf!! my friends want me to come over to their houses to hang out and i refuse because i have a fear of getting them.. this is ridiculous. my paranoia is driving me crazy… i’ve become a germaphobe due to having to work with young kids my whole summer. idk if there’s such thing as a “bed bug phobia” but if there is, i have it. it’s starting to interfere with my social life and this is not good. whenever i go into public bathrooms or whatever, i never put any of my stuff down just b/c i fear that i will get them.. this is getting nuts. please help me.. give me some advice!!
i was trying to figure out why i have this huge fear and i can’t figure out why. i never had a big traumatizing thing with bugs during my childhood so idk where it’s coming from.. i’ve just developed huge paranoia and it’s not okay anymore.
please help?
okayy so we have bed bugs and this is like the first time ever and today we called the extermiator (Orkin) and they said it would cost 1300 dollars. So anyways like i know steam will kill them so would it be smart to call a steam company like stanley steamers or should we buy a steamer or what? also they said the bed bugs can be in like outlets and stuff so how can we kill them all? And also like do bed bugs travel in groups so would they be hiding in like one main area? plzz help thx!

they claim to be safer and more effective than the strong and dangerous chemicals used by the exterminators.
if they really work then i would buy them, but i do not want to just be throwing away my money.
I’m currently not working and can not afford much of anything.. Therefore, I can not afford an exterminator or even plastic bed covers.
What I have bought is hot shot bed bug and flea aerosol spray.
My concern is using it on my mattress.
I do not own and can not afford a steam cleaner.
Is it safe to spray hot shot on your mattresses and just let it dry and vacuum?
Is it safe to spray on clothes in your home? (not the clothes you’re wearing, but the ones in your closet, drawers, ect.)
I work at a daycare and we found bed bugs we called an exterminator and they only did a treatment in one room. I would like to know what we should do as teachers because my center is kind of horrible and has no guidlines or cares they told us not to tell parents. Who can I call or what action I could take.
OK so, ive been getting bit at night so i decided to check for bugs and…UGH!!!! i found 4 bugs under my mattress on my bed skirt so i ripped everything off and washed it and found 3 dead ones on the washed items…then i went back to the mattress and killed the 2 i saw Ive been back and haven’t been able to find any im going to buy that food grade diatomaceous earth stuff tomorrow my question is has anyone used it and does anyone know of any ways to get rid of them with out getting rid of my mattress or calling an exterminator PLEASE HELP (and no negative comments please!!!)
i just searched again all over the mattress and box spring. and i still cant find anything.. i cant afford an exterminator
So, the other day I woke up with what I thought were six mosquito bites that I must have gotten overnight. I passed on my futon in my living room, the day before I had JUST moved into this apartment that I know the previous owner had no bug issues with.
Over the course of the day I realized that there was no way these were mosquito bites as my skin was pretty allergic to the bites, and I get bitten by mosquitoes on a very regular basis. One inconsistency with bed bug symptoms is that no bite has been anywhere near another one. Everywhere I read says to look for clusters, or a line of 3 or 4 bites. But I’ve only had them spaced out by several feet on my arms and legs.
The reason I knew it definitely wasn’t mosquitoes for sure was that the one on my arm ballooned up to around five inches in diameter and was oozing clear pus until the end of the day. I put steroidal cream on it and ate some benadryl and went to bed. I woke up the next day and the bites were markedly better! I’ve been without issue, sleeping on my bed in the bedroom for four days until today when I just woke up with three more bites. One on my left foot, one on my right foot, and one on my right hand knuckle.
Seriously, what is up here? I know what signs to look for and all that, my landlord is having a bed bug exterminator come out to evaluate the situation tomorrow morning.
